Ready to make your own chesnut praline holiday latte? It's starts with this super simple coffee syrup recipe 🌰

I love the nuttiness of the holiday season, in every sense of the word. Chaos of shopping, holiday parties, school spirit weeks, more shopping, gift making, and all the nut flavors. Making the syrup smells heavenly, roasted chestnuts and pecans fill the room. After I made the first batch of roasted chestnut syrup, I froze the left over roasted chestnuts - after I ate a few.

This recipe starts with roasted chestnuts and roasted pecans. I roasted the pecans in the oven tossed with brown sugar, to make traditional candied pecans you mix the nuts with egg whites so the sugar sticks but for this syrup we just tossed them with the sugar. It didn't stick well but I do love the flavor of toasted sugar too and you just throw all of it in the pan. After you finish the reduction you can blend the soft chopped nuts until you have a chestnut praline spread. I always try to find something to do with any left overs.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup roasted pecans

  • 1/2 - 3/4 cup roasted chestnuts

  • 1 1/2 cup water

  • 1 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla

Step 1: Roast Nuts

Make sure you start with roasted chestnuts and pecans. Toss the pecans with brown sugar and spread over a baking sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes, shake and bake for another 10 minutes.

Step 2: Chop Nuts

Chop the roasted nuts coasely.

Step 3: Mix and Simmer Ingredients

Add chopped nuts, water, brown sugar, salt to a medium saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Step 4: Strain and Bottle

Strain syrup into an airtight bottle. After it has cooled a little, add vanilla and store in the fridge.

And that's it!

I've been really enjoying this syrup in my coffee with chocolate cold foam. Mix 2 TBL of syrup into a cup of coffee, to make the cold foam whip 1 TBL mocha sauce with 2 TBL of heavy cream and splash of milk. Follow me on Instagram and Facebook for more drink inspiration - thanks for reading! ❤️
