Looking for a fun and entertaining way to make coffee for your Friendsgiving this week? Start your bonfire up and make Cowboy coffee over an open flame ❤️
We love entertaining and we have great neighbors so we are fortunate to entertain regularly. I make coffee and drinks all the time so when the occasion can call for something a little more fun, I'm in. The weather was just right yesterday for a fish fry and bonfire. And when there's a bonfire, there's your chance to brew coffee over the flame. Just like the cowboys do.
Brewing coffee in an enamel pot over a fire is super easy and the ratio of coffee grounds to water is the same as if you were making coffee in your regular drip machine. If you are grinding your own beans you will want them to be more on the coarse side but I used pre-ground and they worked fine.
Now of course you can drink Cowboy Coffee black but why wouldn't you make it into a drinkable s'more? Make your own 3- ingredient mocha sauce and add cream and some toasty marshmallows for a sweet treat 🤤
Ingredients
Coffee grounds
Water
Optional: 3-ingredient mocha sauce
Optional: cream
Optional: toasted marshmallows for topping
Step 1: Boil the water
Set up your coffee pot so that it's not sitting in the flames but close enough to warm up quickly. Let the water boil and then remove from the heat for 30 seconds so the temperature is close to 200 degrees.
Step 2: Add coffee
Mix your ground coffee into the water and give it a good stir. You want all the grounds to be wet. Let it sit for 2 minutes.
Step 3: Stir again
Give it another good stir and let sit for another 2 minutes.
Step 4: Pour slowly
You can add a little cold water to the top to help the coffee grounds settle on the bottom or you can pull a strainer out. But the trick is to pour slowly so you are getting the coffee from the top.
Step 5: Assemble coffee
Here's where you can add your optional toppings. Mix in mocha and cream, stir and then top with marshmallows. Or make your coffee your favorite way. Or you can even just drink it black if that's what you want.

And that's it!
Another super simple way to dress up your cup. The coffee will be smooth and rich, might just be your new favorite ❤️
